Deuter AC Lite 24 vs Deuter Telatie 26
Quick take: The Deuter Telatie 26 costs $10 less; the Deuter Telatie 26 carries more (26 vs 24 liters); the Deuter Telatie 26 is lighter (1.59 vs 2.05 lbs).
Which one to buy
Ten dollars cheaper, 1.59 lbs against 2.05, 2 L bigger and rated for more weight: on paper the new Telatie 26 beats the AC Lite 24 on nearly every line. What the extra $10 buys on the AC Lite is airflow. Its Aircomfort back is a suspended mesh over a spring steel frame, the same system as the Futura, and it holds the pack off your back. The Telatie has no frame at all, just two foam profiles with mesh channels between them, so it sits against you and ventilates less.
The load ratings look backwards for that reason. The Telatie's 13-22 lbs depends entirely on its foam back and hipbelt, while the AC Lite tops out at 7-13 lbs, which covers water, lunch and layers before a camera tips it over. For bladder users the Telatie also takes 3 L against the AC Lite's 2 L, and it adds a hip-fin pocket and a front J-zip that opens the main compartment like a suitcase.
The AC Lite keeps two advantages besides ventilation: a rain cover in the box, which the Telatie lacks, and small touches like a glasses stow on the shoulder strap and a dedicated phone pocket. Both fit the same 44-54 cm back length. For most day hikers in mild weather the Telatie is the better buy. The AC Lite earns its price on hot, humid trails where a sweaty back is the thing you most want to avoid.
Deuter AC Lite 24
Worth the extra $10 if you hike in heat and want a back panel that holds the pack off you, with a rain cover already included.
Deuter Telatie 26
For most day hikers: lighter, cheaper, roomier and rated for heavier loads, provided a foam back that sits against you doesn't bother you.

Pros & cons
Deuter AC Lite 24
- ✓$110 for a suspended Aircomfort mesh back undercuts the Futura 23 by $40 for 1 L more.
- ✓930 g is 250 g lighter than the Futura 23 despite using the same back system.
- ✓Rain cover included, which is not standard at this price from most brands.
- ✓A dedicated smartphone pocket and glasses stow on the shoulder strap are genuinely useful touches.
- ✓50% recycled content with bluesign certification and PFAS-free DWR.
- ✓Pole attachments and gear loops make it more than a town bag.
- ✓Lifetime repair policy applies at the cheapest point in the range.
- ✗Hydration capacity is capped at 2 L, against 3 L on the Futura and Speed Lite Pro.
- ✗3-6 kg maximum load is low and easily exceeded with water and a camera.
- ✗600D polyester is heavy for the protection it offers compared with the Futura's X-Grid.
- ✗The 16 L size has no published weight.
- ✗The suspension gap costs usable depth on an already small pack.
- ✗The rigid curved frame is awkward to pack flat.
Deuter Telatie 26
- ✓720 g for 26 L with a ventilated back undercuts the AC Lite 24 (930 g) and the Futura 23 (1,180 g) in Deuter's own range.
- ✓$100 is the lowest price of any Deuter hiking daypack with a channelled back panel.
- ✓A published 6-10 kg load rating, which most sub-$110 daypacks do not carry.
- ✓Front J-zip access to the main compartment, so the pack opens flat instead of top-loading only.
- ✓Hydration compatible up to 3 L, with a hip-fin pocket for small items.
- ✓210D recycled polyamide body and a lifetime warranty.
- ✗No frame or framesheet, so the load rating depends entirely on the foam back and hipbelt.
- ✗No rain cover, where the Trail and Futura lines include one.
- ✗Back length is fixed at 44-54 cm; shorter torsos need the separate Telatie 24 SL.
- ✗Airstripes channels ventilate less than the suspended mesh of the Futura 23, which costs $50 more.
- ✗The lid is sewn on with only an external pocket, so it cannot be removed to save weight.
Deuter AC Lite 24 vs Deuter Telatie 26: common questions
Why is the frameless Telatie 26 rated for more weight than the framed AC Lite 24?▾
Deuter rates the Telatie at 13-22 lbs, carried on its padded hipbelt and foam back, and the AC Lite at 7-13 lbs. The AC Lite's steel frame exists to hold the mesh off your back for airflow, not to haul load. The AC Lite's ceiling is easy to pass once a camera comes along.
On a humid July hike, which one leaves my shirt drier?▾
The AC Lite 24. Its suspended Aircomfort mesh leaves an air gap behind you, while the Telatie's Airstripes channels sit against your back. That gap is also why the AC Lite has less usable depth inside.
Will I miss the rain cover if I pick the Telatie?▾
Only if you hike in rain often. The AC Lite includes one; the Telatie does not, so budget for a cover or a pack liner if you go that way.
