Osprey Aether Plus 70
Leaning toward expeditions, the Aether Plus 70 is the big brother of the Aether 65: a 3.5 mm LightWire hoop frame, a 210D high-tenacity nylon body and Custom Fit-On-The-Fly hipbelt and shoulder straps that are adjusted to the wearer. Its floating lid detaches into a DayLid daypack, and a front-panel zip opens the main compartment without unpacking from the top. At 6.2 lbs in L/XL it trades weight for load control, and the same chassis scales to 85 and 100 L versions rated for 40-70 lbs.

Features
Pros
- ✓Custom Fit-On-The-Fly hipbelt and shoulder straps plus an adjustable torso give one of the widest fit ranges on this site
- ✓Removable lid turns into a DayLid daypack for summit or side trips
- ✓Raincover is included and stores with the pack
- ✓Front-panel zip and a zippered sleeping-bag compartment reach gear without unloading from the top
- ✓210D high-tenacity nylon throughout is tougher than the 100D fabrics on lighter Osprey packs
- ✓Same design runs to 85 and 100 L, both rated for 40-70 lbs, if 70 L proves too small
Cons

Osprey Ariel 65
The Ariel is the women's-fit Aether, Osprey's heavy-haul pack. It uses a contact back panel rather than suspended mesh, trading the Aura's airflow for load control, and a 420HD nylon packcloth shell that is the most durable fabric Osprey puts on a trekking pack. It is the women's pack in the line for loads above 40 lb.
